Stellamcor is a small family-owned business with over 65 years experience in reclaiming textile waste. Fred S. Levy founded the Company in 1946 to import textile machinery for American and Canadian mills. Fred’s uncle sold American grown cotton to German companies. His wife, Hilda, came from a long line of textile experts. Her father studied weaving and her grandparents owned a textile goods store in Crivitz, near Hamburg, Germany. Out of this humble beginning they built a hands-on organization selling equipment to major textile corporations across the USA. Burlington Industries, Inc., Milliken Industries, E.I. DuPont, Monsanto Company, Avondale and Riverside Mills are listed among their original clients.

After graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering and working for Rohr Aircraft, their son, Frank J. Levy joined the Company. On one of his many business trips to Italy to buy balloonless carpet spinning frames, Frank sought a new 100” Garnett machine to open textile waste into reusable fibers. Next to the Garnett was a new machine that was five times as fast. Frank insisted on meeting Sergio Dell’Orco, the man who made that fast machine. It was the start of a long and mutually beneficial business relationship that made a strong impact on the industry. Their first client was Fiber Conversion in Broadalbin, NY. Others soon followed in Germany, Israel, Canada and the USA.

Over the years Stellamcor has worked with over 110 companies including Burlington Industries, Carolina Mills, Johnson & Johnson, J. P. Stevens, Kimberly Clark Corp., Leigh Fibers, LA Fibers, Soex, Libby Mills, Mohawk Industries, Troy Mills, Interface, Polylock, Sawyers Spinning, Paltex, Scotia, and Turner Fiber Fill.

Stellamcor purchased 500 40” cotton cards from John D. Hollingsworth for the Carniti Company for new mills in the Far East. Today Stellamcor sells many air-lay and non-woven systems.
